RAINBOW MOUNTAIN PERU FULL DAY TOUR FROM CUSCO

The Rainbow Mountain Peru Full Day Tour From Cusco, also known as the mountain of seven colors of Peru, is a stunning, unique geological feature located near the spectacular Ausangate Mountain. Ausangate Mountain is the deity of Cusco and has been considered a holy place of worship by indigenous Peruvians for a millennium. The tradition of prayer and making offerings continues today.

Treks to see the Rainbow Mountain used to require at least 6 days. However, this new itinerary lets you see this attraction in a challenging day hike. You’ll see quaint villages, beautiful adobe houses, herds of llamas and alpacas, plus magnificent views of the Ausangate glacier (6385m/21,000ft.), the highest mountain in the Cusco region. RAINBOW MOUNTAIN PERU FULL DAY TOUR FROM CUSCO ITINERARY

To start out this incredible experience, we will pick you up at 3:00 am from your hotel for a 3-hour drive to the trailhead at Quesiuno (4326m/14,200ft). When we reach the Inkintuyoc Bridge, we’ll have a hearty continental breakfast. You’ll begin the hike following a lovely stream, where we’ll see herds of alpacas and llamas. Views of Ausangate Mountain will grace us as we hike through villages and interact with the local residents. You’ll enjoy a deluxe box lunch along the trail.

We continue our hike and see large potato farms and the unique fauna of the region. We may get lucky and see chinchillas and vicunas. Note that vicunas are the only non-domesticated animal of the llama family in Peru. Many red-colored mountains are also a highlight.

After a total hike of approximately 3 hours, we’ll finally reach our destination: Rainbow Mountain (5020m/16,500ft). The natural, vibrant colors are truly amazing. You’ll have free time to explore, take pictures and take it all in. We’ll enjoy approximately 30 minutes at the summit.

We’ll descend down the same trail for 2 hours, where private transportation will be waiting for us. It’s a 3-hour drive back to Cusco and we’ll drop off at your Cusco between 7:00 – 8:00 pm.
