Huchuy Qosqo Trek Tour 3 days

The Huchuy Qosqo Trek Tour 3 days is ideal for those trekkers who want to hike across the Andes Mountains with very few people en route. The Huchuy Qosqo Trek is an off the beaten path experience with great Andean sceneries and Inca sites. Huchuy Qosqo is situated in the mountains overlooking the spectacular Sacred Valley of the Incas and many quaint villages. This trek is also perfect for those who do not want to take a long walk but still includes Machu Picchu, Inca trails, Inca ruins and snow mountains. You will be camping very close to Puma Marka community and the next night you will stay in a hostal in Aguas Calientes.

We will pick you up from your hotel in our private vehicle and then we will take a 25 minutes ride to Tambomachay ruins located at 3750 masl. We begin our hike following a pathway used by ancient Inca people to connect the Huchuy Qosqo ruins and the Sacred Valley. After one hour hike, we get to the lookout point from where you can observe panoramic views of Cusco traditional neighborhoods as Santa Ana, Santiago, Puquin, and the Valley of Qorao. At this high Andean level we also observe llamas and alpacas eating the Andean grass named Ichu, small cactus, and some bromeliads bushes locally known as Puyas. We will continue on a gentle pathway enjoying beautiful green valleys stretching out as far as the eye can see, the trail takes us up over the first pass (4100 masl) and into a high open country. Once at the top, we will see the beautiful Lake of Quellwakocha, and after 20 minutes we come to another lookout point, where we will enjoy our box lunch and also the incredible view of Vilcanota mountain range.
After this short break, we continue another 200 meter to reach the highest point in 2 Hrs walk at a normal pace. From the top, we will see the lake of Korikocha and the snow mountain of Ausangate far in the distance. This time the Huchuy Qosqo Trail takes us downwards for 1.5 Hrs to Pucamamarca village our camping spot. Here, our staff will serve us our afternoon tea and dinner under the great Andean starry sky.

This section of the trail goes through a narrow canyon, offering a great mixture of nature and culture. At the very end of this canyon, we will able to see the panoramic view of the sacred valley of the Incas as well as the town of Lamay. This hike takes about an hour to reach the Inca site of Huchuy Qosqo, recently restored by archaeologists, located at 3450 mals. From this point, it is clear to see many gorgeous mountains as Chicon, Pitusiray, Sawasiray, Wakaywillka, and Veronica so respected and venerated by the locals. We have a guided tour for 1.5 hours to visit and explore the entire ancient complex. The archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo was built as a home for the Inka king Huiracocha and his closes relatives. The Inca complex of Huchuy Qosqo has many storehouses called Colcas or granaries to store and preserve food because it was an important agricultural center to produce maize.
After our history lesson, we will walk down into the valley, where we will enjoy our nutritious lunch next to the sacred valley river. This is about 1.5 hours walk in a zigzagging and almost vertical trail with incredible views of the mountains and wide valley with corn fields. Upon our arrival to the village of Lamay, our team will be waiting for us with a refreshing drink and our delicious lunch.
