Cusco City Qoricancha Sacsayhuaman Private Tour begins when we pick you up from your hotel at 1:00 pm and then head towards the nearest Incan attractions. This excursion includes sites in the city of Cusco as well as a little outside of it, with the ruins Sacsayhuaman, Q’enqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. We will visit a total of five Inca sites over the course of this five-hour afternoon tour.

We begin with one of the most important temples, Qoricancha, which means “gold enclosure” because its walls were originally covered with solid sheets of gold. This temple was dedicated to the worship of the Sun god, one of the primary deities of Inca cosmology.

Then we’ll travel up the hill to Sacsayhuaman (“Satisfied Falcon”), one of the most astonishing megalithic monuments built by the Incas. The site is a brilliant architectural feat even now after it was significantly dismantled by the Spanish to build colonial Cusco in the 16th century. You can still imagine and sense its full glory from the grandeur of its stone walls, with the largest stone weighing over 300 tons.

Next, we’ll visit the ruins of Qenqo (“Zigzag”) which displays many symbolic carvings of Inca gods and animals critical to the Inca culture including a llama, a condor, and snakes. Inside the rock ruins, there are a number of caves and passageways to explore. There is also an altar, which was used to sacrifice llamas.

Then comes Puca Pucara (Red Fortress), a small site that was used as a control point and a sort of hotel for housing important Inca people during ceremonies.

The last stop of the tour is Tambomachay (Lodging Place), which is thought to be built to worship water, with an abundant subterranean source which flows through the temple. There are some incredible aqueducts, canals, and cascades efficiently carved in stone.
